So, we’re all set for tomorrow, and we’d love you to join us!
World Diabetes Day, an International Diabetes Federation initiative, is celebrated on November 14th to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, first conceived the idea which led to the discovery of insulin in 1922.
Key messages for this year’s campaign are:
-1 in 2 People with Diabetes Don’t Know They Have It: Are you at risk?
-Diabetes: Know the Complications
-Diabetes: Don’t Discriminate
With these themes in mind, we’d like to invite you to an information event celebrating World Diabetes Day on Thursday 14th November (tomorrow).
It will take place at the University of Liverpool in the Sherrington Building (Ashton Street L69 3GE), between 10am and 2pm. Peta Naevin, our Diabetes Nurse Consultant will be there, along with Jenny and Jess, our health advice and promotion team, giving advice and support about all things diabetes related.
Then, at 4pm, the School of Engineering building will be lit up in Blue to mark the day (blue being the global colour for diabetes awareness).
The team will be wearing blue in support of this day- perhaps you could too!
