Diabetes awareness Drop in Sessions 9-14th June

Diabetes awareness week takes place 8th – 14th June, this special week is all about raising awareness of this common condition.

In support of this, Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust is encouraging people to come along to their drop in diabetes awareness sessions next week.

Diabetes is a long-term condition resulting in too much glucose in the blood. There are 3 million people in the UK diagnosed with diabetes in the UK and an estimated 850,000 people who have the condition, but are undiagnosed.

Marie Evans, Diabetes Specialist Nurses at LCH said “The main signs and symptoms of diabetes include feeling very thirsty, tiredness, urinating frequently (particularly at night), and sometimes weight loss.”

Marie continues “Our simple message is that Type 2 diabetes can be controlled with simple lifestyle and diet changes and also with medication. However, it can become much more detrimental to your health, if left undiagnosed – so if you have any concerns at all, please seek advice from your Doctor.”

•           Monday 9th June, 2.00pm – 4.00 pm, The Beat, Health Information Centre, Hanover Street
