The Liverpool Lighthouse Innovation Project

In November of 2025 we were delighted to launch the The Liverpool Lighthouse Innovation Project. The result of months of collaboration, community insight, and shared commitment to improving health outcomes.
Working closely with refugee and asylum-seeking communities, the project explored the reasons behind low pertussis vaccination uptake in pregnancy. We were excited to see the positive impact this would have, not only on pertussis vaccination uptake, but also on improving understanding and confidence throughout the entire pregnancy journey.
Since this launch, the Liverpool Women's Hospital have already had a 600% increase in vaccinations. This incredible increase in vaccination uptake reflects the power of trust, shared understanding, and the strength of Liverpool’s diverse communities. As the project grows, we remain committed to working side‑by‑side with those who know their experiences best, ensuring that every voice shapes a safer, healthier future for families across the city.
