Our Work
Last Updated: Thursday, 02 April 2026Brownlow Health is the provider of a number of workstreams. Read the information below to find out more about our work.
As well as providing core medical services, in which we strive for excellence, there are many other notable aspects to our services across Brownlow Health:
- Student healthcare. We work closely with local universities and the wider welfare network, including hall wardens, tutors, international student services, careers officers, and counselling teams. We also host a sports physiotherapy clinic and a psychology service for University of Liverpool students. Our sites include the Student Health Centre at Brownlow Central and Brownlow Health @ Marybone, close to Liverpool John Moores University buildings.
- Homelessness care. Our dedicated homelessness team provides outreach care, a weekly drop‑in service at the practice, and inreach support to ensure safe hospital discharge. We work closely with partner agencies to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care for this vulnerable population.
- Drug and alcohol support. We have extensive experience in shared‑care drug services, both in direct provision and in supporting other GP practices. Our team also works with commissioners to improve support for people with alcohol dependency, particularly in the city centre.
- Asylum seeker clinics. We run dedicated clinics designed to meet the specific health needs of asylum seekers, offering accessible, sensitive, and appropriate healthcare support.
- Sexual Health services. Our clinicians provide a range of sexual health services, including STI testing and treatment, as well as fitting long‑acting reversible contraceptives (LARC).
- Minor surgery. We offer a variety of minor surgical procedures at the practice, carried out by trained clinicians in a safe and convenient setting.
- Student nurse training. We provide placements and learning opportunities for student nurses within our practices, supporting skill development in primary care.
- GP registrar training. We support GP registrar training as part of our commitment to developing the next generation of clinicians.
- Healthcare support worker training. We offer training opportunities for healthcare support workers across our practices.
- Medical student training. We provide training placements for medical students as part of our educational programme.
- We are proactive in training and development of our non-clinical staff, with many opportunities for career development.
- Trans Healthcare. We have GPs with specialist interest in trans healthcare and contribute to local enhanced services.
- Obesity. Our GPs with specialist interest in obesity support local service provision for weight management.
- Eating disorder support. We have GPs with special interest in Eating disorders, and provide input to local service provision.
- Research. We are part of the Mersey Primary Care Research Consortium, comprising practices across Merseyside. We were awarded the Primary Care Research Team Assessment Award by the Royal College of GPs, one of only a handful of practices Nationwide to receive such an award and the first in Merseyside.
- Elderly Intermediate care centre and Nursing Homes. Providing medical support for both.
- Young persons health. Development of the ‘GP Champs’ service, in collaboration with the Young Persons Advisory Service (YPAS). This is a dedicated service for young people in the city.
